To actually check in wait for a break, call "net control", let the carrier drop, listen for doubling. Then say your callsign, name, location, and "No traffic" if you do not have a message to send. If you do have traffic to bring to the net indicate so during your check-in. The Net Controller will note this and look for someone to pick up the traffic. Once someone agrees to pick up the traffic, the net controller will assist you in passing the traffic.
